What Does a Residential Locksmith Do?
A residential locksmith installs, repairs, rekeys, and replaces every type of lock in your home. That covers front door deadbolts, sliding door locks, window latches, mailbox locks, gate locks, garage entry locks, and safes. We also install modern keypad and smart lock systems from brands like Schlage, Yale, August, and Kwikset.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are roughly 35,000 working locksmiths in the US. Not all of them are good. We've been doing this for over 20 years and have 252 five-star Google reviews to prove it.

When Should You Call a Residential Locksmith?
Call us when you can't get in, can't keep others out, or want better security. That's the short version. The most common calls we get are home lockouts (keys left inside, lock jammed, broken key stuck in the cylinder) and rekeying after moving into a new house.
But we also get a lot of calls from people upgrading old locks. If your home still has builder-grade Kwikset or Defiant knobs from when the house was built, those are easy to pick. A Grade 1 deadbolt from Medeco or Mul-T-Lock is a different story. We can walk you through the options when we arrive.
How Does Our Residential Service Work?
You call (561) 524-8500. We show up in about 20 minutes. Done. That's really it. Our vans carry Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, and Medeco hardware, plus pin kits for rekeying, smart lock programming tools, and safe-cracking equipment. We don't need to run to a supply house first.
We give you a firm price before touching anything. If you don't like the number, you owe us nothing and we leave. That almost never happens because our prices are fair, but the option is always there.

Residential Locksmith Questions
How much does it cost to rekey a house?
Our rekeying starts at $125 for the service call plus your first lock. Each additional standard pin tumbler lock is $45. So a typical 4-lock house runs about $260. High-security locks like Medeco cost more due to the specialized pins. We'll confirm the exact price on site before starting.
Should I rekey or replace my locks after buying a house?
Depends on the lock condition. If the existing locks are solid and you just need to make old keys useless, rekeying is faster and cheaper. If the hardware is worn out, rusted, or builder-grade junk, replacing makes more sense. We'll look at what you have and give you an honest recommendation when we get there.
Can you install a smart lock on my existing door?
Almost always yes. Most smart locks from Schlage, Yale, and August fit standard door preps. We handle the physical installation, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth pairing, app setup, and programming user codes. Takes 45-90 minutes depending on the lock model and your door type. We'll also show you how to use it before we leave.
How fast can you get here for a home lockout?
Average is 20 minutes. We keep vans spread across Broward and Palm Beach counties so someone's always close by. We've had calls in Boca where we were there in 12 minutes. Late night or holidays, it might take 25-30. But we're 24/7 and we don't charge extra for after-hours residential lockouts.
What's the best lock brand for a front door?
For most homes, Schlage B60N deadbolt. It's ANSI Grade 1 (the highest), bump-resistant, and runs about $40-60 for the hardware. If you want maximum security, Medeco Maxum or Mul-T-Lock Hercular. Those start around $200+ but they're virtually pick-proof. Honestly, a Schlage B60N stops 99% of break-in attempts.
Do you handle safe lockouts and installations?
Yes. We open safes that are locked, jammed, or have forgotten combinations. We also sell and install home safes and gun safes. Opening a standard residential safe runs $95-$200. We can usually get it open without drilling, but if drilling is needed we discuss it with you first.
Can you key all my locks to one key?
Yes. Triton Locksmith rekeys all your door locks to work with a single key. One key for every door in the house. This is our most popular service for new homeowners.
Do you fix sliding glass door locks?
Yes. We repair and replace sliding glass door locks, add secondary security devices (Charlie bars, pin locks), and install key-operated sliding door locks. $75-$175 depending on the work needed.
Do you install deadbolts on doors that do not have one?
Yes. Triton Locksmith drills the door and frame for a new deadbolt. $125-$200 per door. Takes about 45 minutes for wood doors and 60 minutes for metal doors.
Are your residential locksmith services available 24/7?
Yes. Triton Locksmith provides 24/7 residential locksmith service at the same rate. No after-hours surcharges, no weekend premiums. Available every day including holidays.

Questions People Ask About Coral Springs Locksmith Costs
Will Home Depot rekey locks for free?
Home Depot does not rekey locks. They sell new locks and cut mechanical key blanks, but they don't offer on-the-cylinder rekeying. A mobile locksmith can rekey your existing hardware for $20-30 per lock - always cheaper than replacing the whole lockset.
Can AutoZone make car keys without the original?
AutoZone cuts mechanical key blanks from a VIN but cannot program transponder or remote keys. Any car 2000 or newer with a chip needs a certified automotive locksmith or dealership. We program both on-site - 40-60% cheaper than the dealer.
Is it cheaper to go to a locksmith or the dealer for a key?
A certified automotive locksmith is 40-60% cheaper than the dealer for most late-model cars. Dealer key programming averages $300-650; mobile locksmith runs $180-500, and we come to your location. The dealer is only required for a handful of European encrypted systems.
Is it cheaper to rekey or change the locks?
Rekey is always cheaper. Rekeying reuses your existing hardware and changes the internal pins - $20-30 per lock. Replacing a lockset is $80-250 per door. Replace only if the lock is damaged, outdated, or you want a smart lock.
What is a locksmith call-out fee?
A mobile dispatch fee, typically $35-85 daytime. Usually rolled into the job total unless you decline the work. After-hours and emergency calls carry a $40-120 premium. We flat-quote before dispatch - no mystery line items.
What is the cheapest way to replace a lost car key?
If you have another working key, duplicating it at a locksmith is cheapest ($75-180). If all keys are lost, a mobile locksmith can generate a new key from the VIN and program it on-site - 40-60% less than dealer pricing. AutoZone and big-box stores can't program transponder or remote keys.
Can a locksmith program a Mercedes key fob?
Most Mercedes models from 2010-2023 can be programmed by a certified automotive locksmith with the right equipment. 2024+ models with the MBUX integrated key system may require the dealer. We diagnose by VIN before dispatch and quote accordingly.
Why are Mercedes key fobs so expensive?
Mercedes fobs contain proprietary encryption that requires factory-authorized programming equipment. Dealer pricing runs $380-780 per key. A qualified automotive locksmith with Mercedes-capable equipment is typically 30-50% less - still $250-450 because the hardware itself is expensive.
Will police unlock your car for free in Boca Raton?
Boca Raton Police may assist with a lockout in an emergency (child or pet locked inside) but they don't provide routine unlock service. They'll call a mobile locksmith for you. For a standard vehicle lockout, calling a locksmith directly saves 15-45 minutes of wait time.
Can I call the police if I'm locked out of my house?
Police can assist if there's a safety concern - child inside, medication needed, stove on - but they don't perform standard lockouts. They may break a window or door if it's an emergency, leaving you with repair costs. A locksmith opens the door without damage in most cases.
